Which phones support eSIM

The short answer: almost every flagship after 2018. The long one is below, with lists and one important exception about China.

A ten-second check

Dial on your phone *#06#. If one of the lines is EID — eSIM is supported, no need to read further. No such line — no support, and no setting will add it.

iPhone

iPhone XS, XS Max, XR and newersupported
iPhone SE 2020 and 2022supported
iPhone X, 8 and olderno eSIM
Any iPhone from mainland Chinano eSIM
The exception people trip over most: iPhones bought in mainland China ship without eSIM regardless of model. Hong Kong and Macau models have two physical slots, and some of them lack eSIM too.

Samsung

Galaxy S20 and all newer flagshipssupported
Galaxy Z Flip and Fold — all generationssupported
Galaxy Note 20supported
Almost the entire A and M seriesusually not

Google Pixel

Pixel 3 and newersupported
Pixel 2 and olderno eSIM

Xiaomi, Huawei, Honor and the rest

Support spreads from flagships down to mid-range and depends heavily on the firmware region. Xiaomi has eSIM from the 12 series in global versions, Huawei from the P40, Honor in recent flagships. The most reliable check here is *#06#: it answers for the exact phone in your hand, not the model line.
